FAQs

What do you want the developers to do?

Remove clustered lot design
Other projects in Fall City have developed R4 sub-divisions without degrading the rural character and design of the neighborhood. With individual septics, the lots have larger setbacks and more diverse layouts.

Trade the LOSS for regular septic and individual drain fields
This reduces the risk to our groundwater by eliminating the possibility of a mass failure event by distributing the wastewater over a larger area.

Align with existing character & maintain rural character
Use rural development standards for things like fencing, lighting, parking, signage and roadways.

Do you want to limit all growth in Fall City?

Nope, just urban style sub-divisions that bring unsupportable levels of density to Fall City.

Does this put our business district LOSS at risk?

No - our downtown area has a LOSS project in progress that models responsible engineering practices like requiring high levels of effluent treatment and a drain field location that was specifically chosen because it is outside of our wellhead protection areas.

We are asking the state to require the developer to meet the same standards of development as the business LOSS.

Besides challenging the 7 sub-divisions underway, what is FCSG doing?

We are actively working with the county on changing the King County Code to close the regulatory gaps that allowed these projects to proceed despite our protective rural town designation. Long term, Fall City will continue to grow and we want to help guide development standards so the growth is sustainable and maintains our rural character.
